Time for a new challenge!

Waking up with the sun turned out to be a fantastic challenge for me.  I've never been a big morning person. I wasn't really the type to sleep in late, but you could be sure that I wouldn't wake up before 7:30am unless prodded with something much like a pitchfork.  I was able the wake up with the sun every day for 21 days and I feel like I may have become a morning person (I'm not fully convinced yet, haha).  We have been on vacation for a few days now and although the room is completely dark when the sun rises I am still finding myself waking up around 6am.  Not quite with the sun, the room darkening curtains throw things off a bit, but I will get back into the groove in a few days.  I knew that my 21 days were up but what I didn't realize was that I had gone an extra week.  I began the challenge on April 14th and today is May 14th...Where does the time go???

It is definitely time for a new challenge.  I have so many things that I teach that I want to explore further that it was a challenge to try to put them into priority.  It was obvious to me that the next one should be focusing on water because I am ALWAYS telling my clients "Water is the cheapest medicine", and everything in foot zoning and life seems to come back to the importance of water.  Do you know how many strange things happen to you if you are not drinking enough water?  We will be getting into some of them, and you might just be surprised.  Just the other day a client came to me with a myriad of complaints thinking that he had a very serious illness and through discussing his habits we realized that he was actually dehydrated.  For him I recommended the book "You're Not Sick, You're Thirsty."

Drinking water has not been a strong point for me and I definitely need a kick in the pants to get my act together with drinking water.  I have learned that the average person needs to drink half their body weight in ounces...but as a good rule of thumb I think the average person should drink a gallon of water a day...so that is the challenge.  For the next 21 days I challenge myself to drink 1 gallon, or more, of water everyday.

Happy Mothers Day!

Remember to take time to tell the moms in your life how much they mean to you!  My mom is AMAZING and I don't think that I can ever tell her enough.  Heaven knows I wasn't the easiest child to raise.  We'll be going home to visit in a few weeks and I will tell her in person again then.  I love you mom!
PS, AJ went camping at Links Lake, AZ this last weekend and said that the area is COVERED with comfry, so if you find yourself in the area, bring some pineapple juice!

Is it really worth it?

Waking up with the sun was a real struggle this morning.  I stayed up late correcting finals...fell asleep in the middle of a question and wouldn't be surprised to find a pen smear and drool stain on someones booklet, haha.  This morning as my new body clock alarm went off around 5:15am every mental part of my body revolted.  On top of going to bed very late I woke up 3 times with the kids.  I deserved to sleep in! ...but I gave my word that I would wake up with the sun every day for this challenge so that I could report it honestly.  So, was it worth all the effort, today...of all days, when I know that I won't be able to take a nap or get to bed until late yet again?  yes. Yes! YES!!!

I feel AMAZING!!! The sun is SO ENERGIZING! I was telling my students just the other day that there is something magical in the air just before the sun rises that wakes up every cell in your body and fills it with energy.  When you make the effort to do what I am doing you will find the reward.  Yes.  It IS worth it!

Whiter Teeth and Leg Cramp Relief

People seem to be having a lot of leg cramps these days, and when they ask me what I would do, if it were me, here is my response:
Eat more bananas, Hee, Hee, Hee, (for potassium).  More seriously, if that doesn't work, rub Lobelia tincture (in a base of Alcohol or vinegar, follow this link to learn more) onto your legs (It relaxes the muscles and is also very good for kids growing pains and about a million other things).  If that doesn't work, take a dose of Marine Minerals (Liquid Ionic Trace Minerals, click on the name to follow a link to it).  It is surprisingly fast acting and has many other benefits.

I remember my sister, Ilene, using Marine Minerals when I was a little girl.  She was in track and field in high school and I don't know why she did this, but she would stand in front of the mirror (religiously) every night and squirt about a teaspoon worth of the salty liquid directly on her teeth, then she would swish it around her mouth and SWALLOW it.  She did this continuously for a really long time (at least a year, and to someone in middle school, that is a really, really long time!).  It seems like she started because she had cavities and wanted to see if she could repair them without the dentist, but I really can't remember...and she is sleeping right now, or I would call to verify.  I can tell you that the end results were AMAZING!  Our of 8 children, she had the most healthy teeth; strong. white as white could be and no cavities for YEARS.  Genetically we all had terrible teeth, and in middle school she was right there with us, but she was able to turn poor teeth into very healthy teeth by consistently doing this night time ritual (with regular brushing).

I tried to do it several times but would get distracted and forget after a few weeks.  I still keep a bottle around and swish with it every time I have a tooth ache.  It numbs the pain (after directing a moment of excruciating agony because it's literally like pouring salt into a wound) and gets me back on my feet.  I always get motivated about 2 weeks before a dental check up because I figure that if there is even a tiny chance that it can re-mineralize the teeth (heal cavities) then I am willing to give it a try.

So, check out the Marine Minerals Website.  They have some other fantastic products also.  Specifically... FM (female corrective supplement that works miracles for girls going through that time of month etc.) and Stress Free (My mothers secret weapon against teenagers).  Remember that I do not profit from you buying any of these products, but if you do, leave me a comment below to let me know how it works for you.  That will be my reward.

Family Time and the Dream Job!

I absolutely LOVE being a Foot Zone Therapist!  I get to make my own schedule and spend time doing the things that I love the most.  A wise college professor once said that he only did things that he enjoyed doing (he was teaching a class about attitude).  He said that even though he wasn't making much money as a professor he loved what he was doing and his payment was happiness.  He was the reason that I worked at Macey's Grocery store in Utah for 14 years, even after I got a professional job as a formulation chemist for Nu Skin.  I loved the people and found so much joy working with them that the pay didn't matter to me.

With foot zoning pay will never be a problem, and the people I work with are all amazing!  How could I not want to do it?  It is an absolute dream job.  All day long, every day,  I get to do things that I want to do.  I make my own schedule, so before I schedule any work things I write in all the personal and family things that I am interested in and then I decide how many clients I want to work with each day and how long I want to spend.  I had a busy week last week and decided that it would be nice to have a day off, so I simply didn't schedule anyone today and spent the whole day with my family doing fun things that we wanted to do.  I took the kids to a pot luck party with a fun bunch of friends this morning while AJ was at school then when he got home we made home made pretzels (THANK YOU Tanya Adams for the recipe!  I will most likely be sharing it here one day) and watched a movie.  AJ is such an AMAZING dad and the kids LOVE him.  Tonight they both fell asleep in his lap.  Family is a wonderful thing to be a part of, and as a parent I am seeing that if I want to keep my family strong we all have to work together at it, day after day, after day.  With Foot Zoning, I can do that more easily, and I am SO GRATEFUL that I stumbled upon this amazing profession!

Just open your mouth.

So, we had leftover fliers from the fair last night, so I thought that I would just set them out on the table for the yard sale this morning...again, SO many people were interested!  WE NEED MORE FOOT ZONE THERAPISTS.  Seriously.  If you are thinking about this, you should sign up for the next class series because there is more than enough business.  I have earned my tuition money back time and time again.  The secret is to "just open your mouth!"  I tell everyone about what I do and I share as much information as I can.  If people are interested they ask questions and we talk more and more, if they aren't we change the subject.  If I don't open my mouth in the first place, how will we ever know if this was something for them or not?

Thank You Foothills Elementary!

WOW, what a night!  After a fun yard sale with friends (what better to do with my mornings when I am already waking up with the sun, ehh?), I gathered up the kids and headed off to Foothills Elementary to set up a booth at the "Carnival".  Not just any booth...a Foot Zoning Booth!   A couple of friends met us there and after helping us lug all the supplies in they swooped up the kids and occupied them while we worked the booth.  Amelia won a fish...so you know that is going to be days of fun, hee, hee, hee.  With the kids distracted and happy AJ and I were free to join a team of fantastic people to spread the word about foot.

People LOVED it.  It is invigorating to meet so many people who are open to what foot zoning has to offer. Grown ups were running back to the booth, like giddy school kids, bringing their friends and family to show them what they learned and get them to try it out.  We met SO MANY nice people tonight.  I am very excited to get to work with some of them in the near future.  We are going to have so much fun together in class and in treatments.

Thank you to my AMAZING team tonight.  You were WONDERFUL!!! Sheri, Debbie, AJ, and Mike worked the front of the booth creating excitement, scheduling, and bringing people in.  They were brave, full of energy and inspirational. Jewell (my partner in crime) was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and effective giving the samples.  I heard many people talking about how amazing their feet felt after she worked on them.  She truly has a gift.  She will be a very successful zoner and I am grateful to have a small part in her journey.

THANK YOU to all the neat people at Foothills Elementary for allowing us to be a part of your big night.  My kids had a thrilling time.  I'm pretty sure my daughter will be talking about this night for weeks to come.  What would this night have been without all the incredible people who visited our booth?  T H A N K  Y O U for your support and interest.  You reminded me of why I LOVE foot zoning so much, and I thank you for inspiring me to keep doing what I'm doing.  I'm looking forward to all the new adventures we will have together!

Barter and Trade with Foot Zone Therapy!

Being a foot Zone Therapist has blessed me and my family in more ways than I can even try to count.  I know some of you are considering learning it at some point and I think you will love it too!  One of my favorite benefits of knowing Foot Zone Therapy is that I now have a "trade."  That used to mean something totally different to me.  When someone goes to a "trade school,"  I just considered it a specialized school; but now, since becoming a foot zoner, it has a completely new meaning to me.  People who have a "trade," can actually "trade" their services or knowledge for the things or services that they are in need of.

I have been able to trade it for house repairs, dog training, baby sitting, food, pluming, electrical work, doggie boarding (kennel), a vitamix blender! hair cuts, house sitting, essential oils, and many more things.  Thanks to one of my amazing students, I was tipped onto an easy system to keep track of the trade...  by placing a monetary value on each service and "paying" for it with pretend money.  I worked for hours on the computer to make up some cute "Sweet Feet Massage" money samples then I saw that hers were a simple picture taped to the front of real money and photo copied...that is much faster.

Anyway, it has come to my attention that my husband really needs a truck...He has been using my mini van "as a truck" when he goes on boy scout campouts once per month and after the last trip I am putting my stubborn foot down in protection of my minivan "child."  So, we are now in the market for a truck...but, being in Dental school, we are not exactly "flushed" with extra money...so I am open to a trade if you or someone you know is interested in trading their awesome truck for a years worth of services or a free class.    When I figure out how to do it I will add a page to the website that shows the items for barter/trade...so keep checking in.
